From 1970-1990, commercial fleet transport companies that were formed focused more on business generation rather than tyre issues, while increased passenger car tyre needs was confined to a narrow range for predominantly lower capacity cars. From 1990-2003, commercial fleets focused on improving operational efficiency, with limited improvement emphasis on tyre factors, while passenger car tyre range began to widen in tandem with increased choice of car models. From 2003 onwards, AFTA, globalization and maturing of the internet revolution are transforming the market dramatically, compelling commercial fleets to start focusing on tyre factors that are related to efficiency, fuel savings, cost effectiveness, productivity and other values, in order to compete and satisfy their customers' needs, while more informed car owners are demanding specific tyre benefits to satisfy their individual needs.
