MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Going beyond the third generation of family business, making it a 100th year old company, or an Evergreen Enterprise, is by no means an easy task. This is the hope and aspiration of many small and medium size family businesses. It is therefore my wish that I can see the company through its current challenges and prepare it well to reach this goal in time to come.

I once read a story about the vast amount of energy emitted by the sun. The heat of its surface temperature reaches 6000 degree Celsius, but when we sunbath under a normal day, it will just give us a comfortable sun tan. However, when we focus the right amount of energy into a tiny sharp laser beam, it can cut through a thick slap of steel!Likewise, I would like to steer the company in a very focus manner, aligning all it’s people to do what we excel in, develop upon our past know how gathered, and grow profitably with our partners, I think this should be the basic belief to lead the company forward.

While staying focus within our industries, it is important that we have
to constantly scan our environment to remain relevant.

An interesting parable told by Dr Spencer Johnson in his book ‘Who Moved My Cheese’, tells us the power to make changes quickly accordingly to our environment, and to what our customers need is necessary in a volatile world today. This will entail building an organization filled with people whom are capable and open minded about keeping up with market changes and their abilities to develop products and services that can meet ever changing market needs. People with discipline and passion, will help us stay ahead of competition.

Once a successful business model is developed and deployed, it is only right to bring it out regionally, throughout Asean which is a natural extension of Malaysia, and one day throughout Asia.

It is only responsible of me to begin looking for a successor now, to carry the company forward. There is a famous saying that it takes ten years to plant and grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a talented person. I will give myself ten to fifteen years to put in place a framework to find and groom the right person with the right fit with the company who can subsequently take over the helm.
